President of Ma’an Organization meets with the Minister of Youth and Sports
Miss Sarah Allawi, head of the Ma’an Organization for Humanitarian Relief and Development, met Captain Adnan Darjal, Minister of Youth and Sports, at the Ministry of Youth headquarters in Baghdad.
The two parties discussed the situation of women and youth throughout Iraq, and ways to empower Iraqi women and advance Iraqi youth through intensifying efforts between the Ministry and civil society organizations.
Minister Darjal affirmed that the ministry’s doors are open to every action that contributes to the advancement of youth reality and supports the largest segment of Iraqi society, indicating: “We will provide support and care and continue to open horizons for cooperation with government institutions and civil society organizations in order to achieve the aspirations and desires of Iraqi youth.”
For her part, Miss Allawi stressed that Iraqi youth today face great risks, including drug abuse and unemployment, as well as the increase in the phenomenon of violence against women as a result of the economic and social conditions, especially during the Corona pandemic.
At the end of the meeting, Allawi thanked the Minister for his patience and understanding of the needs of young people, opening the field of cooperation with international organizations, reducing the dangers of drug abuse and working to open a rehabilitation center to treat them.
